John Hutchins Takes First Place and

Division 11 Angler of the Year!

Maryland Division 11 Championship, August 21 & 22, 2010, John Hutchins from Warrenton, VA. took First Place with a 2-day total weight of 30.74 lbs. and $976.00 for his efforts. Along with his win, John finished the season with 1199 points to earn Division 11’s” Angler of the Year” and an invitation to fish the ABA National Angler of the Year event as well as the ABA National Championship in the American Fishing Tour bass tournament to be held on Kentucky Lake later this year.

John spent Saturday flipping plastics on the main river and punching matted grass to weigh in 5 bass at 13.98 lbs. On Sunday he opted to just punching matted grass with the front that came through, getting a better bite and boating another 16.76 lbs. for his final two day total of 30.74 lbs.

Second place went to Mark Allan Sipos weighing 10 bass at 24.72 lbs. for 1191 points, third place was Ronald Pawlowski with 10 bass at 20.45 lbs. Kelly Weber, California, MD weighed in Big bass that tipped the scale at 5.66 lbs and was awarded the $200.00 Big Bass pot.

These anglers are acquired valuable points to advance to the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held this fall. The top 5 anglers by combining points earned at the national will earn the bragging rights of their respect service teams (Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Air Force, Associate) along with sponsor products.

The top five anglers were:

2. Mark Allan Sipos, Lexington Park, MD – 24.72

3. Ronald Pawlowski, Fallston, MD – 20.45

4. Chad King, Middletown, MD – 19.31

5. Michael Callahan, Winchester, VA – 18.73

Next Divisional Tournament: This division’s next tournament will be 2011 Early-Bird on September 18 out of Smallwood State Park on the Potomac River.
