June 28, 2008 Rodney Oberdick of Felton, DE took First Place last weekend fishing a frog over grass in 4-5 feet of water on the main river. His 5 bass limit weighed in at 14.02 lbs. Less than a pound behind was Shawn Ezerski with another limit of 13.57 lbs. to take Second Place and Ernie Freeman just .20 lbs less with 13.37 finished Third Place. Todd Allan Langford finished Fourth with 12.98 lbs. And in Fifth Place came Pete Baumgartner with 12.47 lbs. Big Bass was weighed in by Danny Moffat Sr, at 5.25 lbs.
May 31, 2008 Been having problems with my PC. Finally found my Frontpage 2003 CD or I should say my wife found it, right under my nose. I've loaded it on my backup PC and my laptop so I'll have it available. May 31 brought out 39 anglers in some nice weather until after weigh-in when the Thunder and lightening showed. Some of you really appreciated the 2:30 weigh-in over a later time. Our Top 5 anglers Ernie Freeman just signed up for membership this morning slammed us with 5 bass @19.57 plus the Big Bass: 6.42. With almost 6 lbs less, John Till took 2nd weighing 5 bass @ 13.78. Close behind with 12.90 lbs and another 5 bass was Scott Randall taking 3rd Place. In 4th Place, James Charlesworth brought 5 bass to the scale weighing 12.76. In 5th Place, affectionately know as The VooDoo Man, finished our Top 5 with 11.62. Next Tournament is June 28 when the size limit will return to 12 inches. Maybe I'll get a limit finally.
Side Note: I'm still missing 3 boat number cards. Two I have heard from. If you have the card, please return it on the 28th. These cards make it easier to find you during launch.
Early Report The weather man was wrong, it didn't rain or thunder. It turned out to be a nice, warm, mostly sunny day. Still fishing was tough. This what our top 5 brought in. 1st Chad Scroggs 17.58 lbs Big Bass 5.40 goes to Chad King
Next Tournament...May 31, 2008. Status page has been updated. If any errors, please let me know. Numbers seem to run together after awhile. If I have missed points for prior events, let me know. April 19, 2008 April 19, 2008- Our best show ever! 40 anglers came out to challenge the bass on this fine day. We were fishing in 80+ degree weather with water temps averaging 62 deg. Tide outgoing all day. Promised to be a good day. And for Rich Weldon, it was. Rich brought what is to be the largest bag we've had in this division. Though his Big Bass of 6.99 lbs didn't take the Pot, his 5 fish, 20.68 lbs bag took 1ST Place, over 5 lbs greater than 2ND Place. Wow! 2ND Richard Bates 15.18 Big Bass by Brian Wright 8.32 lbs Unfortunately my camera glitches and I lost the photo. For that I apologize.
April 5, 2008 The weather forecast for April 5, 2008 was heavy rain with thunder storms. I didn’t expect the 35 anglers that showed this morning, ready to face a tough day of foul weather. Turned out the weather man was way off. We had clouds overhead, but no rain or thunder boomers. By late afternoon we actually had a sun beating down on us. Still it was a tough day catching that 15 inch limit. Only half the field brought a bag to the scale and of that only one angler, Alvin Dixon from Severn, MD, had a limit to finish in 3rd Place. Three anglers weighed in what would be Big Bass or at least what you’d think would be. Charles King of Waldorf, MD with a 6.04lbargemouth was beaten by Dan Moffat SR from St. Charles, MD with a 6.34lb Largemouth. Then John Gaertner of Stafford, VA topped those with a 6.96lb Largemouth. If that wasn’t enough, Chad King of Middletown, MD with a total weight of 16.20 lbs with just three fish blew those Bib Bass away. There may have been larger bass caught in tournaments on the Potomac, but per Ray Borras of Maryland DNR, who has been recording tournament results for the past 20 years, this was the largest he had seen. Chad fishes the main river only. Today he was fishing the main river somewhere south of Mattawomen Creek with a black and blue jig and pig. Initially he thought he had himself a catfish, then after the battle to bring him up he slipped his hand, like the Ike does, to lift it but his hand slipped off. Not wanting to lose a catch of a lifetime he shoved his fist into the jaws of a 9.08 lb Largemouth tearing his hand up from its teeth. Needless to say, Chad took Big Bass and First Place today earning an average of $94.00 an hour just to go fish for a day. Chad’s biggest concern after weigh-in was to show his buddy, get pictures, and release this fish alive. Chad, you pictures are on the way. 2nd Dan Moffat SR 4 fish @ 12.13 3rd Alvin Dixon 5 fish @ 11.52 4th Scott Randall 3 fish @ 9.31 5th 2 fish @ 8.61 Big Bass Chad King 9.08 Hey,

As of 01-04-2008 we are still waiting on the plaques. Talked with Ellen today and should see them in February. Six anglers from Division 11 attended the 2007 National Championship on the Harris Chain of lakes in Florida. They had it tough with the low water conditions and worked hard to persevere Scott Randall ended up on day 3 with 14.86 lbs. on the boaters’ side. Though he didn’t make the cut he did make the Marine Corp Team. Tony Douglas finished in the boater field at 54 with 10.66 lbs. Paul Dunn who has moved to Florida and now resides in New Port Richey had a good practice. Even fished the canal that the winning weight came from. Too bad he didn’t go back to that canal. Paul finished up with a nice round number…”0” lbs for the week. Next time Paul. On the Non-boater side we had Tony Roberts who might have preferred to fish until 5 PM each day. His finish as a non-boater was 88 with,…oh yeah, he wasn’t alone…there were a bunch of 88’s, “0” lbs. Then came the “Voo-Doo” man, Richard Vann who squeaked a whopping 2.21 lbs to the scale. I think he finally made it home. Andre Toraine could-of, should-of made the cut. Cept he was .13 lbs short. Nice try Andre. I was rooting for you all. I checked the weights each night and wishing I could have made it. Still it took Carl Hughes to take any money from the national. Even though he did not get to fish the national his name was pulled by Ardent Reels to win $1000.00. Now that's the way to do it. Note: Plaques should be available after the first of the year. When I get them I will send those that earned them for the Early Birds.
