Shawn Ezerski Takes The First 2011 Event On The Potomac
From Division 11, Maryland Sept. 18, 2010, Shawn Ezerski from Mount Airy, MD. is ahead of the pack for the 2011 ABA National Championship with a 1st Place win in the American Fishing Tour bass tournament. Shawn’s 5 bass limit weighed in at 9.14 lbs. Our weather finally cooled to the 80’s and so did the water. Shawn took his bass by throwing swim baits and swim jigs to main river and creek grass.
Second place went to Nick Toman with a weight of 5.98 lbs., third place was John Till with a weight of 5.51 lbs. Big bass was awarded was to Kelly Weber for catching a 3.55 pound largemouth.
These anglers are acquiring valuable points to insure their birth in division’s two-day champion and the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held the fall of 2011.  Their points are also being used to determine the divisional angler of the year. The top angler by points earned in this division will represent the division in the Angler of the Year final round.
John Hutchins Takes First Place and Division 11 Angler of the Year!
Maryland Division 11 Championship, August 21 & 22, 2010, John Hutchins from Warrenton, VA. took First Place with a 2-day total weight of 30.74 lbs. and $976.00 for his efforts. Along with his win, John finished the season with 1199 points to earn Division 11’s” Angler of the Year” and an invitation to fish the ABA National Angler of the Year event as well as the ABA National Championship in the American Fishing Tour bass tournament to be held on Kentucky Lake later this year.
John spent Saturday flipping plastics on the main river and punching matted grass to weigh in 5 bass at 13.98 lbs. On Sunday he opted to just punching matted grass with the front that came through, getting a better bite and boating another 16.76 lbs. for his final two day total of 30.74 lbs.
