Chuck Hartzman Takes First Place at Potomac River
From Division 11, Maryland, June 27, 2009 Chuck Hartzman from Rockville Maryland is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a 1st Place win and $556.00 in the American Fishing Tour bass tournament held on Potomac River this past weekend . Chucks 5 bass limit weighed in at 12.16 pounds. Second place went to David McMichael with a weight of 11.95 pounds. third place was Richard Bates with a weight of 11.52 pounds. Big bass was awarded was to David Michael for catching a 3.83 pound large mouth.
These anglers are acquiring valuable points to insure their birth in division’s two-day champion and the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held this fall. Their points are also being used to determine the divisional angler of the year. The top angler by points earned in this division will represent the division in the Angler of the Year final round.
The top five anglers were:
1. Chuck Hartzman – 12.16
2. David Michael – 11.95
3. Richard Bates – 11.52
4. Mark Allan Sipos – 11.35
5. Gregory Littles – 11.34
Conditions: Another fine sunny day with temps running in the mid 80’s. Water ranged from mid 60’s to 70’s with just enough wind to keep the water rippled.
Winning Strategy: Chuck has been using jigs and creature baits to fish hard cover (docks and rocks) and pads to get his limit. All fish were caught in less than 5 feet of water from both the main river and creeks.
Next Divisional Tournament: This division’s next tournament will be June 28, 2009 at Smallwood State Park.
